The Urology Department, established in 1963, is the earliest department of specialty with Chinese medicine and integrative medicine as the main treatment in China. It has doctoral and post-doctoral programs, and is attached unit to the Professional Committee of Urology with Chinese Medicine and Integrative Medicine. The Twelfth Five-Year Plan of National Administration of TCM recognizes it as a department of key discipline.
The founder of this discipline in China, Professor Liu Youfang, is the pioneer of the urological studies integrating Chinese and Western medicine. He has been awarded the Albert Einstein World Science Prize in 1987. Under the leadership of Professor Zhang Yaqiang, the academic leader, and Professor Lu Jianxin, the leader of the discipline, our department vigorously develops academic research with distinctive features of the combination of traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine.
Our 20 staff includes 4 Chief Physicians, 5 Associate Chief Physicians, 3 Attending Physicians, 4 Resident Physicians, 1 Associate Chief Technician, 3 in Charge Technician. Among them, 3 Post-doctoral degree, 4 Doctoral degree and 6 Master degree.
Medical Features:
1. Using traditional Chinese and Western medicine to treat diseases of male and female urinary system and male reproductive system;
2. Carrying out open urological surgery and minimally invasive surgery, and flexible use of TCM syndrome differentiation and treatment;

The main diseases this department treats include urolithiasis (kidney stone, ureteral stone, bladder stone, urethral stone), Urinary tract tumors (kidney cancer, ureteral cancer, bladder cancer), Female dysuria (incontinence, dysuria, persistent urination, etc.), Hyperplasia of prostate, prostate cancer;Urogenital inflammation (prostatitis, epididymitis, seminal vesiculitis, etc.), Interstitial cystitis, complex urinary tract infection, renal cystic disease, neurogenic bladder, male sterility, impotence, premature ejaculation, urology, male common diseases.
