Xihuang Jiedu Capsule is an in-hospital preparation of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) independently developed by Guang'anmen Hospital (Z20063197). It is a commonly used herbal medicine for the treatment of malignant tumors such as breast cancer, stomach cancer, intestinal cancer, liver cancer, and lung cancer.
In 1963, the Oncology Department of Guang'anmen Hospital was established, becoming the China's first national-level TCM and integrated TCM and Western medicine oncology department that integrates medical care, teaching, and research. In the 1980s, under the leadership of the first director Yu Guiqing, the oncology team conducted research on the TCM treatment of breast cancer, hoping to find an effective way to control and prevent this threat to the health of women in the world through TCM.
The oncology team referred to a large number of ancient TCM documents and conducted in-depth research inspired by the "Xihuang Wan" under the entry of Ruyan in "The Complete Collection of Surgery Syndrome and Treatment" by Wang Hongxu in the Qing Dynasty. Xihuang Wan has the functions of detoxification, clearing away heat, promoting blood circulation, removing blood stasis and dispelling congestion.
Combining the clinical experience of famous and senior experts in our hospital, the oncology team adjusted the prescription of Xihuang Wan and developed Xihuang Jiedu Capsule, a characteristic in-hospital preparation of our hospital. The prescription adds panax notoginseng, American ginseng, edible tulip, cordyceps, pearl powder, etc. to enhance its effects of promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis, nourishing qi and blood, resolving phlegm, nourishing kidney and lung, astringent and detoxification. On the basis of the treatment of breast tumors, the scope of its indications has been expanded, and it is widely used in the treatment of breast cancer, gastric cancer, intestinal cancer, liver cancer, lung cancer and other malignant tumors.
The original Xihuang Wan was originally in the form of pill. After repeated trials, our hospital uses modern technology to pulverize precious medicinal materials at low temperature and fill the capsules to ensure the accuracy of the herb content, giving full play to the role of the herb and making it convenient for patients to take it. Years of clinical studies have confirmed that Xihuang Jiedu Capsule can regulate the tumor microenvironment to play an anti-tumor effect, reduce patient's discomfort symptoms, and improve the quality of life of patients.
After nearly 60 years of development, the Oncology Department of Guang'anmen Hospital has developed into a national regional TCM oncology diagnosis and treatment center, an innovative team in the key field of "TCM oncology Fuzheng Peiben" of the Ministry of Science and Technology, a key discipline, a key specialty, a key research room of the National Administration of TCM, and the third-level tumor molecular biology laboratory, with an annual outpatient volume of more than 250,000 person-times and more than 3,500 person-times discharged from hospital. In addition to Xihuang Jiedu Capsule, the oncology team has independently developed more than ten special preparations such as Feiliuping ointment, Fuzheng Jiedu oral liquid, Jianpi Yishen granule, and Ruanjian Xiaoliu tablet.
Through 40 years of clinical application, the therapeutic effect of Xihuang Jiedu Capsule has been fully confirmed, and it has helped the majority of tumor patients, becoming one of the many star in-hospital preparations in our hospital, with an annual sales volume of 200,000 boxes, benefiting millions of patients. It has played an important role in the fight against malignant tumors.
