Department of Pediatrics, founded in the late 1970s, has a history of more than 40 years. It is a clinical department conducting high-quality medical practice, education and scientific research.
At present, with 6000-8000 outpatient visits per month, we have 11 doctors including 3 chief physicians, 4 associate chief physicians and 4 attending physicians. Among them, one is doctoral tutor and two are master tutors. As the main research unit, we have undertaken national-level scientific research projects and Beijing municipal projects.
We are good at using various therapies of TCM to treat common diseases and frequently-occurring diseases in children, such as children's repeated respiratory infections, acute and chronic cough, asthma and cough variant asthma, allergic rhinitis, anorexia, abdominal pain, constipation, indigestion and other diseases. The pure Chinese herbal medicine is also very effective in the treatment of childhood eczema, urticaria, childhood nephropathy, childhood cardiovascular disease, childhood obesity, precocious puberty and other diseases, without any side effects. Our department is also the first in the country to carry out research on the TCM treatment of children's tic disorder and ADHD. After more than 20 years of clinical practice, we, under the leadership of the director, can provide a perfect individualized treatment plan for the children according to the TCM syndrome differentiation thought and each child's constitution characteristics. In addition to the expert outpatient clinics and general outpatient clinics, our department currently offers special outpatient clinics for children with tic disorder, children's growth and development special clinic, children's cardiovascular special clinic, children's nephropathy special clinic, and infant nutrition and diet clinic.
In terms of treatment methods, we mainly use Chinese herbal medicine to treat diseases. Other methods, like Chinese massage, has been applied in the treatment of children cough, abdominal pain, anorexia, night cry, etc. The intradermal needle therapy and ear-acupoint magnetic therapy are used as complementary therapies of Chinese herbal medicine to treat common and difficult diseases in children.
