The Department of Orthopedics was established in 1955 at the beginning of the establishment of the hospital. There are currently 35 medical professionals and 18 physicians (3 chief physicians, 10 associate chief physicians, and 5 attending physicians). Focusing on bone and joint trauma, two professional groups for joint disease and spine disease have been set up.
Under the leadership of Mr. Du Ziming, a well-known scientist in the 20th century and one of the founders of New China’s orthopedics, we, adhering to the development policy of focusing on TCM and integrating TCM and Western medicine, have made the department into a specialized department with relatively complete professional categories, obvious characteristics of TCM and integrated medicine after several generations of inheritance and development since the establishment of the hospital.
Under the guidance of the spirit of "inheriting the essence, keeping integrity and innovation", we apply traditional techniques to treat cervical spondylosis, lumbar spondylosis, joint disorders of spine and limbs, use needle knife to treat for tenosynovitis and apply Huoxue powder for external application to treat sprains and degeneration of limbs and joints. In terms of fracture treatment, we combine TCM bone setting techniques with modern internal fixation techniques, and vigorously develop manual reduction and internal fixation techniques, which have significant advantages in fracture treatment.
In the diagnosis and treatment of spine diseases, we have introduced the most advanced whole spine endoscopy technology in recent years, which has the characteristics of less damage and quick recovery. In joint diseases, the minimally invasive osteotomy technique is effective in the treatment of bunion, and the minimally invasive arthroscopy is widely used in the diagnosis and treatment of all joint diseases of the body.
After several generations of inheritance and innovation, many research programs have been awarded for scientific and technological achievements, such as " Fracture treatment of navicular bone by strawboard--pad fixation", "Manual reduction combined with splint fixation for treatment of humeral condyle inversion fracture", "Acromioclavicular joint dislocation managed by acromioclavicular fixation band" and "Integrated differentiation of disease, syndrome and body to prevent early femoral head necrosis and collapse".
